Winner - Mary Lou Zemaitis, PhD., R.N.
Director of
Education, VAPHCS
- as the first woman Director of Education,
she is a
proven trailblazer
who mentors colleagues at all levels and
continually
encourages her staff to excel both personally and professionally
Finalist - Cheryl Beeman
Computer Specialist, MEPS

recognized expert in her field, Civilian of the Year

Linda Raye Benson
Quality Assurance Specialist, NIOSH

recognized expert, ensured a smooth transition of the relocation of the
Respirator Branch to Pittsburgh
TECHNICAL:

Winner - Cynthia Hollerich
Physical Science Technician, NIOSH
- leads and conducts experiments
independently on research projects, inspires co-workers to produce quality
work and learn new skills
Finalist - Michelle Anderson
Office Automation, USACE
- uses initiative to research new methods of
doing business, applies abilities to more complex duties that far exceed what
is expected

- high level of creativity and originality, provides
mentorship

- instrumental in numerous improvements on her
own initiative

- ability to troubleshoot problems within the system considered an
invaluable asset

- on her own initiative, assisted with implementation of Electronic Bid
Schedule System, also designs web sites regarding future projects

Finalist - Dorothy Bradshaw

- instructs current and newly hired
employees in proper manner of dispatching mail,
solving issues and concerns
in an expeditious manner

- inspires co-workers with her positive attitude
and
work ethic, despite a major illness
